Do Broadcasters Separate DTH Signals From Analog Cable ?

In near future, broadcasters may seperate the DTH signals from the analog cable signals. That means Direct-To-Home (DTH) viewers will receive one broadcast signal and the analog cable platforms will receive another broadcast signal.

Intention Behind The DTH Signal Split

Ofcourse, the reason behind the separation is due to the advertising expenses are 10 to 15 per cent more for the DTH platform compared to the analog cable system. On separation, broadcaster may fix a separate cost for the advertisements broadcasted over the DTH medium compared to the analog medium.

With this separation both the broadcaster and the advertiser may gain more revenue than the present earnings.

Also, the TAM Research Media may operate their statistics seperately for the DTH system and the analog cable system in the near future. According to TAM, the DTH subscribers are spending 20 per cent more time watching TV than the normal cable subscribers. It is expected that by the end of 2008, there may be more than 10 million DTH pay TV subscribers in India.

Finally, there won't be any impact for the DTH subscribers and the analog cable subscriber due to this signal seperation.
